The spirit behind Kuminsá

My name is Marviën Boelbaai.
I have a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, a lifelong calling to help others, and a story I never expected to live.

I built Kuminsá not from perfection, but from pieces, from the wreckage of everything I thought I had to be. Kuminsá was born from my own journey of transformation…

Years ago, I dreamed of creating a platform to help people heal and start again. But when I began writing the concept, fear took over. I abandoned it. I told myself I wasn’t ready.

Then life cracked me open.

What came next was a series of silent battles: substance use, identity loss, and two episodes of full-blown psychosis.
Not once. Twice.
Moments where I didn’t recognize myself...where the shame of being the “helper who had to help herself” nearly swallowed me whole.

But even in the darkest places, something remained:
A quiet, unbreakable truth that said; begin!

Today, Kuminsá is a growing hub that connects people across the Caribbean to coaches, tools, and guidance. Including, but not limited to, me.
It's a space for people like you and me. Those who’ve fallen, shattered, spiraled and still choose to rise.
